On December 2, 1952 the international FAM-18 (Foreign Air Mail) route was extended from New York
through Rangoon, Burma. Also, two days later the international FAM-14 route was extended from San
Francisco through Rangoon. Service from Rangoon eastward (F14-100) was not started until
September 11, 1953.
This allowed mail to travel completely round-the-world by regularly scheduled air mail service of
the US Post Office. International FAM-14/18 service was provided by Pan American Airlines.
