Northwest Orient Airlines advertises flight service from the US via Alaska, Tokyo and Shanghai. This would connect with TWA across Asia, the Mid-East, Europe, Newfouldland and back to the US. Northwest's great circle round-the-world routing will be a short cut to the Orient and cities round- the-world. The flown cover is cancelled on July 24, 1947, backstamped in Shanghai on September 17, 1947 and returned to the US on October 8, 1947 making it round-the-world.
