Pan American Airlines was finally certified on April 1, 1967 to fly between US
cities, San Francisco, CA and New York, NY provided it did not carry domestic
passengers or domestic mail. Pan American then became a true round-the-world air
carrier as it now could finally fly between US coastal cities. It was now able to
fly between San Francisco and Rome and vice versa with a stop in New York.
