The Tournoi International de l'Expo Universelle de Paris 1937 was held between May and
November in Paris, in and around the foot of the Eiffel Tower. Many countries were
represented including France, England, US, the Nazis and the Soviets et al, all participating
face to face even while the troubled world was moving toward warring conflict (WW-II).
Air France had been inaugurated on October 7, 1933 and by 1937 had grown to be the third
largest airline route network with close to 100 aircraft and flights spanning the world.
It was fitting then that Air France would participate in the Paris Expo 1937 by flying
round-the-world. Toward the end of the Expo on October 16th the flight round-the-world began
and ended on November 22, 1937.
